Details: Short description To help young people in distress, Mizutani, the "watcher," sometimes has to offer more than just advice and attention. For example, to save Cheng, a young Japanese man of Chinese origin, from the sirens of yakuza life, Mizutani will have to put himself on the line. Nami, on the other hand, can't finish the journey to high school. Every day, seized with panic, she collapses a few hundred meters from her goal. Will Mizutani be able to help her overcome her block? Adults too can sometimes need the "watcher"'s help, such as Maniwa, a new teacher unable to earn the respect of his students. For Mizutani, there is only one solution: sincerity. If Maniwa takes the risk of exposing his fragility to his students, perhaps he will gain their trust? Back cover Mizutani, the "watcher," to save young people in distress, sometimes has to give more than just advice and attention. Thus, to save Chen, a young Japanese of Chinese origin who struggles to integrate, from the sirens of yakuza life, Mizutani will have to put himself on the line, before it's too late, before Chen is forced to abandon one of his phalanges to get by. Nami and her mother's complicity is not enough to help Nami finish the journey that leads her to high school. Every day, seized with panic, she collapses a few hundred meters from her goal. The "watcher"'s advice will be invaluable... But it's not just young people who sometimes need his help; adults do too, like Maniwa, a young, novice teacher who idolizes Mizutani, unable to gain the respect of his students. Caught between the reproaches of his colleagues and a class that refuses to accept his authority, he is about to give up and resign. For the "watcher" there is only one solution: sincerity. If Maniwa takes the risk of exposing his fragility to his students, perhaps they will then begin to trust him...? About the author and other contributors Osamu Mizutani was born in 1956. A teacher at a junior high school in Yokohama, he devoted himself to the problems of drug abuse and delinquency among adolescents. He began to go on night patrols, during which he strove to work for the reintegration of young people. Subsequently, he appeared in various media and gave lectures throughout Japan, where he continued to raise widespread awareness of adolescent delinquency among society. On September 30, 2004, he retired from teaching to dedicate himself to children who need help. Born on March 21, 1969, in Akita Prefecture, in northern Japan, Seiki Tsuchida became interested in comics at a very young age. He created his very first story, Miseinen (literally, Minors) in 1987, at the age of 18. This work, centered on the journey of two marginalized adolescents living in the countryside, won the Shikishō Prize awarded by the great publisher Kōdansha. Tsuchida then signed a long-running series of 16 volumes, titled Henshū Ō (or The King of Editing) for Shōgakukan. Under the same moon (whose original title is Onaji Tsuki Wo Mite Iru) is his third series, to which he devoted himself from 1998 to 2000. This story of friendship, rich in emotions, earned him the Japan Media Arts Festival Excellence Award in 1999. Its public success also led to a film adaptation, titled Under the same Moon, in 2005. It was in the same year that he launched Y omawari Sensei (or The Night Teacher), a series still ongoing in Japan. Beyond his sober and classic graphic style, it is truly the sincerity and depth of his stories that make Seiki Tsuchida a remarkable author, always attentive to his characters and their feelings.
