Details: It's spring. Miss Guck-in-die-Luft sits at the kitchen window of her tower room and watches boulders fall from the sky into the garden. Or are they birds? Or shadows? They fall quickly to the ground, as always in spring. Over time, there are more and more of them, and there's a rough commotion under her roof. If rocks could wail like that, the mountains would be unbearably loud, and she would prefer the forest forever. She keeps watch. Down in the garden, the cat man lurks. He is hunting. He poaches in the orange garden. She does not accept his dinner invitation, so the two do not meet in the illustrations, but they do in the text. Nina Kaun presents her own perception as a matter of discretion. Brutality and poetry are closely intertwined here. For her free, expressive drawings, she used a technique common in screen printing, where ink, wax crayons, and acrylic paint are applied directly to foils. Lines and white areas are then scraped out of the black areas. "Wie immer im Frühling" (As Always in Spring) is Nina Kaun's second project published by Rotopolpress, following "Auf, auf und davon" (Up, Up and Away).
