Details: With the "Millennium" trilogy, the Swedish journalist and writer Stieg Larsson became one of the most widely read and successful authors in Europe. The prolific writer and political commentator did not live to see the success of his three novels, which were only meant to be the first of ten planned volumes - Larsson died in 2004 from a heart attack. "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", "The Girl Who Played with Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest" were published posthumously. Filmmaker and Larsson expert Guillaume Lebeau, together with illustrator Rébéna, tells the story of the driven author's short life, whose political and journalistic legacy is often overshadowed by the hype surrounding his successful books. In three snapshots, Lebeau and Rébéna show which events and people shaped Larsson's political and artistic career: A snowy winter day in the forests of northern Sweden awakens the fourteen-year-old Larsson's sense of justice, in the late 1970s he spends a year with the guerrillas in Eritrea, and finally, a bloody neo-Nazi bombing in 1980s Sweden prompts him to found the Expo Foundation and the anti-fascist magazine of the same name, which served as a model for the magazine "Millennium," for which his fictional character Mikael Blomkvist works. Less a comic biography than a drawn homage to the life and work of the Swedish author, with an extensive appendix that introduces Larsson's publication history.
