Details: Amazon.de When we think of Peter Pan, we immediately think of the famous children's book by author Matthew Barrie or the animated film of the same name from Disney Studios. But what author and illustrator Regis Loisel shows us in the first of these five-volume comic adaptations is a version of the story that actually fits our time much better than the previously known, very sweet variants. Regis Loisel interprets the story of the orphan boy Peter Pan, who lives on a paradise island somewhere on the vast sea, in a completely different way. Here, Peter leads a miserable life, dominated by violence and crime, in late 19th-century London. The comparison with the novel characters Oliver Twist or David Copperfield is obvious. Peter narrowly escapes a rape in the nocturnal streets of London, and shortly thereafter he meets the little fairy Tinker Bell. She takes Peter to her island, which is populated by truly wild pirates and all sorts of other terrible dangers. This is not a comic for children! Violence and criminality are depicted here in a very oppressive and unvarnished way and actually reflect today's society in many aspects: everyone looks out for themselves, unless they can gain an advantage from a relationship... The Frenchman Regis Loisel, born in 1951, became known in the early 80s with the fantasy epic In Search of the Time Bird, which is available in German in five volumes from Carlsen. Here, together with the author Serge Le Teindre, he created one of the groundbreaking works of today's comic scene in France. Since then, countless artists have tried their hand in this field, but very few have even come close to achieving this quality of storytelling. The fifth and final volume of his Peter Pan cycle has been announced for next year, but due to its ever-increasing scope, it has already been postponed several times. However, the wait should be worth it! --Stefan Schätz Short description Awarded the Max and Moritz Prize 1992 as the best German-language comic. A classic narrative, reinterpreted by Régis Loisel as a comic novel - free, sensitive and wild at the same time: "To grow old is to remember having been a child." About the author and other contributors Régis Loisel was born on December 4, 1951, near Poitiers. He is one of the most famous comic artists in France and has been considered a great innovator of Franco-Belgian fantasy comics since the four-volume work In Search of the Time Bird (together with Serge Le Tendre). Loisel is an outstanding scenarist who has been honored with numerous awards, most recently the Grand Prix de la Ville d’Angoulême.
