About the author and other contributors Jean-Claude Bartoll was born in 1962 in Barcelona (Spain). He holds a degree in law (international relations) and is a former student of the Centre de formation des journalistes de la rue du Louvre, in Paris (section "Journalist reporter d'images"). From 1985 to 1991, he was a senior reporter for international news agencies (Sygma TV, Gamma TV, Point du jour). Following the trail of international criminal networks of all kinds, he dedicated himself to making numerous documentaries and investigative reports for French and foreign television channels. He investigated drug trafficking in Colombia, boat people in Hong Kong, slave trafficking in the Dominican Republic, European mercenaries in Africa, the homeless in France, but also witchcraft in Ivory Coast. Between 1992 and 1993, he was editor-in-chief of a cable channel aimed at universities and grandes écoles. At the end of 1993, he founded, with his ex-wife, his own audiovisual production company: Master'S Copyright. In this context, he wrote, directed and produced documentaries ("Une semaine sur l'enfant lion, Bob Denard, corsaire de la République"), action and adventure animated series ("Tom et Sheenah", "Impaerium") and developed series of TV films and feature films. He is also a freelance scriptwriter for cinema ("Le Trésor" ? adaptation of two Hergé albums ? and "La Princesse de porcelaine", for Home Made Movies) and television ("Ric Hochet", for Dargaud-Marina, "Valérian" and "Linkers", for Ellipsanime). Passionate about thrillers, Bartoll had long dreamed of creating original universes for the 9th art. In 2000, he took the plunge and, putting his knowledge of the world and current geopolitics to good use, he wrote "Insiders" (Dargaud). The series, drawn by Renaud Garreta then Munch, tells of an infiltration mission within the international mafia. With 12 volumes, two seasons ? the last album released in 2019 ? and two complete editions, "Insiders" can boast of being a great success. Its prequel, launched in 2011, "Insiders genesis" (Dargaud, drawn by Luc Brahy), is also a great success and has four episodes (volume 4, 2014). Bartoll does not stop there. Building on his experience as a senior reporter, he created many highly specialized thematic series. In 2006, two crime novels drawn by Thomas Legrain were published: "Mortelle riviera" (Glénat), with a political-mafia plot, and "L'agence" (Casterman), on the international trafficking of works of art. The same year also saw the release of "Mékong" (Dargaud, drawn by Xavier Coyère), an adventure story set in Indochina, as well as "Terra nostra Organisation" (Glénat, drawn by Franck Bonnet). A year later, he published "Diamants" (Glénat, drawn by Bernard Köllé), a series that sheds light on the dark side of the precious stone market ? the fourth and last volume was published in 2012.
