Details: Short description "Ausscheider" (The Outcast) is the fourth volume in the "Stories from the Nineties" series, which describes the experiences of a group of young people. Each volume is self-contained and the overall narrative is non-chronological. This current volume incorporates text fragments from "Hamlet" and Tom Stoppard's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead". The characters Crantz and Stern are based on the figures Rosencrantz and Guildenstern from both mentioned plays. Presented in expressive black-and-white images, the series is characterized by "...its character-driven stories..."; "this comic is entertaining because the author makes his characters act very credibly..."; "outstanding is... the sparse line, which has a subtly caricaturing effect, and the penchant for extreme cuts, which, together with the striking black-and-white accentuation, makes the drawings appear both extremely powerful and melancholic." July 1995. The last day of the Abitur exams dawns in Upper Bavaria. While some are already celebrating, others are setting up the "Tape Measure Festival" taking place that evening. Slowly, all guests arrive, and the celebration begins. Old conflicts resurface, new ones emerge, and are touched upon over 42 pages. Thomas cannot decide whether he feels more than just friendship for Kathrin. Tina and Django critically observe the situation. There is a reunion with the characters from "Punkrock!", but we also meet new ones, like Babsi, the current student representative, as well as Crantz and Stern, two idiosyncratic fellows. About the author and other contributors FAB (Fabian Stoltz) was born in Freiburg/Br. in 1972, studied communication design and illustration in Augsburg, Paris, and Hamburg. In 2002, the second volume "Punkrock!" received an award at the "Heftich" comic fair in Hamburg. In 2004, he received his diploma at HAW Hamburg for the third volume "an solchen tagen" (on such days). FAB lives and works as a freelance illustrator in Hamburg. Since 2008, he has been teaching at the Comicademy.
