Details: Short description A correspondent for the biggest newspapers, Ernie Pike covers the Second World War from the Pacific to Europe, via North Africa and the Atlantic. He recounts the violence of the fighting, the living conditions of the soldiers, the absurdity and cruelty of war. Always at the forefront of the conflict, without ever taking part in it, he witnesses the solidarity and heroism of the men who fight. Back cover Ernie Pike is a war reporter during the Second World War and follows the battles, from the Pacific to North Africa via Europe. He tells small stories, chronicles about the cruelty of the fighting, but also about the mutual aid between his brothers in arms. Betrayal, courage, flight or heroism, nothing escapes the sharp eye of this witness to the atrocities of war. Re-release by Casterman of one of Pratt's early works, accompanied by new stories never before published in French. The whole is colored for the first time. About the author and other contributors Hector Oesterheld worked with Hugo Pratt during his Argentine period, notably on Ernie Pike, published in 1957. They developed the drawings and scripts together, which explains why it is so difficult to fairly distinguish between their individual work. Then Oesterheld pursued his own career as a comic book author, without, however, achieving Hugo Pratt's success. Hugo Pratt (1927-1995) is unanimously considered one of the greatest illustrators in the world. His comic strips, graphic works, and watercolors are exhibited in the largest museums, from the Grand Palais to the Pinacothèque de Paris, not to mention the Vittoriano in Rome, Ca' Pesaro in Venice, Santa Maria della Scala in Siena. He himself defined his stories as "drawn literature". He is cited by authors and artists such as Tim Burton, Frank Miller, Woody Allen, Umberto Eco, Paolo Conte. He lived in Italy, Argentina, England, France, and Switzerland. A great traveler, he crossed practically the rest of the world.
