(2015-09-29) About the author and other contributors Reinhold Escher was born in Hamburg in 1905 and died near Zurich in 1994. He was a German graphic artist and illustrator. In 1949, he received the commission from Eduard Rhein, then editor-in-chief of the magazine HÖRZU, to design a mascot as a page filler: \"Mecki\" was born.
